Prescott Valley woman dies in motorcycle wreck near Seligman
Prescott Valley Tribune

A Prescott Valley woman died Saturday morning when the motorcycle she was riding on crashed after running into road debris.

Responders declared Cathy Pizzullo, 60, dead at the scene on Crookton Road east of Seligman. She was a passenger on the lead bike in a group of four, riding behind her husband Joseph.

Deputies arrived on the scene and found three people severely injured, according to a news release from the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office. Joseph Pizzullo suffered injuries to his head and chest and a rider in the next bike back suffered back and torso injuries when he collided with the Pizzulo's crashed bike.

The other two riders in the group were able to avoid the debris and stopped to render aid. All the riders involved in the accident were wearing helmets, and investigators had not yet determined the speed of the bikes.

Deputies spoke with the driver of an SUV towing a utility trailer who was traveling ahead of the motorcycle group. He said he had swerved to avoid tire debris in the road but apparently had struck it with his trailer, causing it to exit behind the trailer and into the path of the motorcycles.

The YCSO news release said the accident, as well as the cause of Mrs. Pizzullo's death, are under investigation.
