Slather on the sunscreen and enjoy the 32nd annual Prescott Valley Days celebration this weekend. Crazy Daze of Summer kicks off Thursday when the Frazier Shows carnival opens at 6 p.m., just north of the Entertainment District's Town Center.
Starting Friday noon and at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, vendors will showcase their booths of arts and crafts and other goods at ED.
At 7 p.m. Friday at the main stage, finalists will sing for the title of PV Idol 2010. In its third year, the competition's Grand Prize includes a trophy, $50 and recording time with Studio G.
Bright and early at 6:30 Saturday morning, Neighbor to Neighbor volunteers conducting their annual fundraiser will dish up a pancake breakfast at the Prescott Valley Methodist Church, 8499 E. Sommer Dr. Tickets are $6.
Fortified with a hearty breakfast, folks can then pick a spot on Robert Road to view the parade. The PV Early Bird Lions and Waste Management co-sponsor the parade. A wide array of entries led by the family of the late Norm Pariseau as Grand Marshals will be on the move starting at 9 a.m.
After the parade, Mile High Tractor & Engine Club will conduct a tractor show and pull at 11 a.m and (again at 6 p.m.) in the lot next to M & I Bank.
Then it's back to the Town Center main stage at noon to see dance troupes of all ages -from belly dancers to tappers - perform their specialties until 5 p.m.
Also, Crescent Moon Cycles will present a motorcycle show in the northeast Town Center parking lot from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
At 5 p.m., the Beer Garden opens and from 5:30-7 p.m. Unsure Duo takes the main stage, followed by Mogollon from 7:30-11:30 p.m.
Sunday's events begin with another tractor show and pull at 9 a.m. And die-hard revelers get another chance to enjoy the arts & craft offerings and carnival before they close Sunday afternoon.
Included in the festivities is horse racing at Yavapai Downs at Prescott Valley, starting at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Along with the PV Chamber, major sponsors are Budweiser, Patriot Disposal, American Family Insurance, Prescott Newspapers, Inc., the Town of Prescott Valley, Yavapai Broadcasting and Fain Signature group.
