Call to election for D-H mayor, 3 council seats in Dewey-Humboldt
Sue Tone

The terms of Mayor Terry Nolan and three council members will end Jan. 6, 2015. Dewey-Humboldt Town Clerk Judy Morgan issued a call to election at last night's council meeting for Nolan's two-year seat and the four-year seats for council members Jack Hamilton, Mark McBrady and Sonya Williams-Rowe.

Candidate packets became available April 28, and candidates have until 5 p.m. on May 28 to file their nomination papers. The town offers a Candidate Orientation presentation at 6 p.m., on Monday, May 12, at the Dewey-Humboldt town hall, where staff will describe the election process.

The primary election takes place Aug. 26, and any candidate receiving a majority of all votes will be declared elected without running in a general election. If a general election is needed, it will take place Nov. 4.

Candidates who miss the filing deadline have until July 17 to file nomination papers as write-in candidates. The voter registration deadline for the primary election is July 28. Total cost budgeted for both the primary and general elections is $26,000.
