Bradshaw swim boys beat Flagstaff

Bradshaw Mountain swim coach Patti Eller was not surprised by the results of the team's final home meet this past week. The boys won 94 - 73 and the girls were second, 104-66, in the dual meet with Flagstaff.

"Flag has more swimmers in the girls' department and Bradshaw has more in the boys' department," Eller said, adding, "It was windy, cold and fun."

The Bears' top swimmers were: Nick McCarthy, first in both the 100 and 50 freestyle; Mako Bennett, first, 200 individual medley and second in the 100 butterfly; Cameron Blinston and Cody Kelly, first and second, respectively, in the 100 breaststroke; and Michael Gibbons, second in the 200 IM. The boys won both the 200 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay.

Rachel Campbell led the Lady Bears, winning the 100 free and taking second in the 200 IM. Hayley Ehresman and Becca Perry placed second and third, respectively, in the 50 free, while Alexis Walker and Emily Stolz accomplished the same feat in the 100 fly.

Bradshaw also won the boys' portion of the Heisley Invitational in Cottonwood over the weekend. The girls were third, behind Mingus and Flagstaff. Bradshaw placed second overall for the meet. Several swimmers made state cutoff times.

Bradshaw heads for Surprise Nov. 1 and 2 for the final regular season meet.
