Bradshaw softball snaps losing skid to end season

Bradshaw Mountain 11

Marcos de Niza 1, 5 inn.

Bradshaw Mountain snapped an eight-game losing streak on Wednesday, concluding its 2014 season with this run-ruled win over Marcos de Niza at home.

Nichole Paterno, who had originally been scratched from the lineup due to illness, gutted it out and shined. Paterno narrowly missed notching a cycle, going 3-for-4 with a grand slam, a double and a single, as well as five RBIs and two runs scored.

Lacie Denny (2-for-4, RBI, two runs scored), Brittany Flanigan (1-for-2, double, RBI, run) and Madison Rubio (1-for-3, two runs) also stood out at the dish.

On the pitcher's slab, Rubio allowed only one run on five hits, striking out four, to garner the victory.

The Lady Bears scored 10 runs in the third inning and tacked on another in the fifth to prematurely end the contest in five innings.

BMHS finished its campaign with a 9-18 overall record and a 1-6 mark in Division 2, Section 5.
