Prescott Valley Charter School students open habitat garden
The Prescott Valley Charter School's Youth Chamber opened its long-awaited Schoolyard Habitat on May 21 before a standing-room-only audience. The garden, a Learn and Serve-funded project, is located at 9500 Lorna Lane, behind the high school's main academic building. The project took a full year to complete.

Home & Garden Show draws thousands
Vendors said they were heartened by sales and inquiries from crowds at the 2010 Home and Garden Show at Tim's Toyota Center this past weekend.

The three-day event, sponsored by the Yavapai County Contractors Association, drew "just shy of 16,000" attendees, said YCCA Executive Director Sandy Griffis.

Students at Lake Valley Elementary School leaped into track season after Mitchell Weinzinger, 16, built a long-jump box as his Eagle Scout project.

Mitch, a sophomore at Tri City Prep, said he was desperately looking for a project for the award.

Five years ago, while still living in California, Warren Root saw on the news an odd, yet strangely familiar, contraption. It was a common plastic resin lawn chair - on wheels.

The wheelchairs, simply designed with durable, ordinary parts, could be shipped around the world and easily assembled for only $59.20.
